Since we have a lot of new visitors to AmericanHomeplace.com, I thought it would be a good idea to provide a little background information about this site.
AmericanaHomeplace.com was conceived about 1 year ago to provide a resource for Americana music fans. Though Americana encompasses a variety of musical styles, there were only a few websites that attempted to bring them all together under the same umbrella. Initially, we wanted to focus on the history and development of Americana. Those first few pages are now contained within the "Musical Styles" section of this site. As you can see, we tend to get a bit sidetracked around here. This section is still under development with only a few pages completed. Trust us, we will continue to add to this section until it is complete.
We soon recognized the need for a portal for Americana news and information. Americana News and Notes was added last July to include our own original articles as well as links to other sites. We try to update the links several times per week. We will also be adding more original articles as we complete the construction of other sections of this site.
The radio station was added in November to help promote the music discussed on this site. We have big plans for this station in the near future. Currently, the station features a continuous stream of Americana music from the past and the present. Soon we will be adding some original programming.
One last note about the site. As you will see, we try not to overwhelm our visitors with advertising and solicitations. But, like most sites, we are largely dependent upon the support of our visitors. We have a General Store which is accessible at the top of this page. If you would like to show your support, consider making a purchase from the General Store.
